Marshal of Yugoslavia was the highest military distinction, rather than a military rank of the Yugoslav People's Army. In military hierarchy it was equivalent to Marshal field marshal , and, simultaneously, a Yugoslav honorific title. The only person to ever hold the title of "Marshal of Yugoslavia" was Josip Broz Tito , with the term "Marshal" becoming synonymous with his name in Yugoslavia.
